Welcome
Warren Publishing, Inc. is pleased to announce the publication of Quiet Guilt: The State of Michigan v. Starr by historian and author Clare Adkin.
A year out of high school and still working in his family's apple orchard, Quite Guilt's main character, Chuck, yearns for a life of adventure. Suddenly, as if in answer to his prayers, he is offered the job of reporting on a high profile murder case. He works tirelessly to do the 'best job' possible in this, his first 'real' assignment, but finds it is hard to get people to talk about what they know. What he uncovers will lead him to a new understanding of his Michigan community, his family and the devastation of secrets.
Quiet Guilt will have you in suspense as you journey with Chuck through this mystery set in Depression Era small town America.
Clare Adkin was raised on a fruit farm in Allegan County, Michigan. After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in history, he embarked upon a 38 year career in teaching and coaching. He has been thinking about Mary Anne Starr, the subject of Quiet Guilt, since he discovered her while doing research for his first book Brother Benjamin (1990). True to his mantra, "History is interpretation, the essence of which is research and writing," he has persistently endeavored to instill the same in his students. Adkin and his wife Sally make their home in Durham, North Carolina.
